Background


Telkomsel is the largest mobile operator in Indonesia with over 190 million subscribers. 


In 2007 they launched mobile money services for their customers under the TCASH brand. TCASH has since grown to over 20 million subscribers with 10 million active monthly.  

Growing TCASH adoption in the lifestyle sector

In order to attain mass-market adoption, TCASH needed to overcome the friction during the merchant payment experience. 

The initial TCASH merchant payment experience was cumbersome and time consuming for consumers. On the merchant side the process introduced opportunities for errors and misuse.

The rise of the cashless society


Telkomsel engaged Youtap to create a secure, point of sale user experience for mobile money transactions. The Youtap merchant payment solution enabled TCASH mobile money subscribers to access a digital wallet for payment simply by tapping their mobile phone at the point of sale.

A first – mobile money at big retail


In a ground-breaking first, through the integration of Youtap’s in-market POS devices, TCASH was able to make mobile money an easy way to tap and pay at Tier 1 retailers such as McDonalds, Indomaret, and FMCG retailers.

Youtap provided TCASH a white label loyalty and rewards engine to solve the issue of customer and merchant engagement.


Through the implementation and use of our platform TCASH were able to drive higher rates of consumer engagement and loyalty by using targeted promotions for customers. They were also able to incentivise merchants by providing rewards for hitting targets and milestones.
